Vice President of Resident Care Position Summary The Vice President of Resident Care wil report to the President of American House and is responsible for administration, management, and implementation of strategy, policies, processes and programs covering the functional areas of nursing, care and wellness. The incumbent is expected to be a transformational leader who develops and supports a strong vision and can execute that vision with best in class nursing/wellness policies, procedures, and standards to ensure quality resident care and nursing/wellness productivity. This role interfaces with senior leadership, front-line team members, executes corporate wellness strategy, and drives change initiatives across the system to maximize the quality of life for our residents. This position ensures that resident expectations are met or exceeded, assures American House can implement its mission, and oversees and integrates our care delivery system by partnering with resident care leaders from across the portfolio. The VP proactively assumes responsibility for leading and executing on strategic initiatives and projects. This individual has responsibility for leading our healthcare operations including wellness/healthcare specialty services for aging adults, population health and lifestyle coaching programs. This role will oversee performance management for key engagement and success factors across the wellness function, ensuring the highest level of health and wellness care and performance.
The Vice President of Resident Care will implement strategies that simplify and improve health and wellness outcomes, operational effectiveness and the overall quality of our wellness service model. The candidate should have knowledge of best practices in the areas of elder care management (disease and case management), health/lifestyle coaching and the ability to translate and leverage those insights into enhancements to enrich the lives of those we serve.
Qualifications and Required Experience for Vice President of Resident Care: Bachelor's Degree; Masters or significant wellness/healthcare operations experience preferred Registered Nurse or advanced nursing license Active, unrestricted state license 10+ years in a leadership position within the healthcare/senior living industry; wellness/healthcare leadership responsibilities within navigation, care coordination or managed care industry ideal 5+ years' experience in an elevated leadership role managing multiple teams Demonstrated business acumen in financial analysis, reporting and forecasting Strong analytical skills; ability to quickly aggregate and analyze information and draw conclusions Strong communicator, capable of effectively presenting ideas and concepts Proven ability to build relationships and teams both cross-functionally and externally Strong leader and motivator with the ability to mentor talent within American House; able to attract and retain top talent Responsible for all aspects of wellness/healthcare programs, including planning, budgeting, staffing, and performance Develops programs that meet the needs of the resident population, and tracks progress against stated goals or milestones Develops the American House's resident care philosophy and standards of care; assists in the development of personalized approaches or treatments as needed Extensive knowledge of laws, regulations, guidelines and compliance requirements related to licensing, provider relationships and quality programs Ability to establish rapport and maintain resident satisfaction without compromising priorities Ability to interact with others at all levels of the American House, to build consensus and get decisions implemented collaboratively Ability to engage a team to rise above the status quo of never settling, and shattering the old image of this industry Unwavering commitment to our people and our culture Primary Responsibilities for Vice President of Resident Care: Evaluate and enhance wellness/healthcare/wellness program needs and gaps in collaboration with operations leadership Support development and execution of the wellness goals within the American House strategic plan, including both long range and annual operating plans, in conjunction with other senior leaders, providing insights and recommendations and ensuring alignment Oversight and responsibility for all healthcare/wellness services metrics and goals to improve effectiveness leading to increased resident engagement and outcomes Responsible for wellness process improvement initiatives that improve efficiency and staff/team member experience Ensure that wellness and caregiving teams are effectively staffed and scheduled to meet levels of care requirements and growth demand, with a focus on improving the forecasting, hiring, performance management and coaching processes Focus on continuously increasing resident satisfaction scores as measured by surveys and other feedback mechanisms Mentoring of internal wellness and caregiving leaders to enhance career progression pathways and next level leadership pipelines Enhancing wellness offerings and service delivery with a focus on scalability and growth Support and translate wellness/healthcare strategy and performance of wellness/healthcare programs with prospective and current residents Provide wellness/healthcare engagement leadership to sales and operations leadership teams   Oversight/relationship with third party home health partners Expected travel requirements 30% of time to visit communities and support regional clinical teams Risk mitigation efforts through relationships with internal and external resources (legal, insurance) Maintaining and updating clinical policies and procedures Stay abreast of changing regulations in all states with operating communities Participate in industry trade associations to represent American House Actively work with regional teams to manage move-outs trends as well as support move-ins while mitigating risk American House Senior Living Communities Founded in 1979, American House Senior Living Communities' vision is to provide high-quality housing for senior at a price affordable for retirees and their families.
