The Veterinary Technician assists with patient care, treatment, and surgical proceduresThey also monitor hospitalized pets and educate clients on veterinary careThey maintain inventory, prepare prescriptions, and perform in-house laboratory work

Responsibilities
• Assisting veterinarians in veterinary medicine, surgery, and other tasks• Taking histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams• Preparing patients for surgery and monitoring vital signs during surgery• Obtaining and testing blood, stool, and other samples• Taking and maintaining radiographs• Handling and restraining animals during exams• Administering medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments• Cleaning and restocking exam rooms and lab areas• Communicating with veterinarians and practice team members• Performing any other assigned duties
Requirements
• Previous veterinary experience preferred• Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds• Practice OSHA safety techniques• Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages• Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office applications• Strong communication skills• State licensing fee reimbursement for credentialed technicians
