Magrane Pet Medical Center (MPMC) is seeking a full-time veterinary assistant, as our summer students are returning to school! The veterinary assistant role is critical in delivering effective wellness and illness healthcare to all patients that enter our doors, as well as those pets boarding with us. Our veterinary assistants are involved in relaying information from pet parents to doctors for each appointment, handling and safely restraining pets for examination and diagnostics, accurately entering information about exam findings, testing and prescriptions for each appointment, and educating pet parents on healthcare topics. Veterinary assisting at MPMC is more than just appointment assisting, however. You will also be responsible for providing some in-hospital treatments to patients such as medicating, bathing, monitoring vital signs and eliminations, observing behavior and pain scores, keeping hospital areas stocked, maintaining a clean and organized hospital environment, caring for boarding patient needs, and effectively communicating with other teammates in reception, our veterinary nurses, and veterinarians.
Fostering a growth mindset and providing both coaching and mentoring to all team members is very important to us. We are not allergic to change that strengthens us and helps us meet our goals. We have a structured skill level training program which helps veterinary assistants gain more knowledge over time.
