Veterinary Assistant

Job summary
Assist veterinary care team in providing care for animals used in search, teaching, or client-ownedSalary Grade: 11Work schedule includes weekends and may vary from week to week

Responsibilities
• Provide basic animal care for various species• Assist with safe handling of animals• Assist with collection of biologic samples for diagnostic testing• Perform animal treatments under the direction of veterinarian• Maintain records on animal health and services• Administer animal treatments under veterinarian's direction• Clean exam rooms and equipment• Stock supplies• Assist in restraining animals for examinations and procedures• Perform related duties as assigned
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent with 4 years' experience caring for animals• OR Bachelor's degree in Animal or Biological Science or related field• Knowledge of Word, Excel, and email programs• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds• Valid driver's license• Ability to work in a team environment• Frequent deadlines and interruptions• Job requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects• Job requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds• Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically
