The UM coordinator evaluates patient medical records to determine severity of patient's illness and the appropriateness of level of care. The UM coordinator serves as liaison for patients and the facility with insurance companies, negotiates and advocates for patient length of stay and level of care. They will also coordinate utilization review activities with other departments to ensure authorization from insurance is received for services provided by the facility.

Qualifications Requirements: The ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment is critical. Comfortable with basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Bachelors Degree in Social Science required. Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or Human Services field preferred. RN, LCSW, LPC, LMFT preferred Strong analytical, organizational, verbal and written skills required. Prior experience and knowledge of psychiatric care, utilization review, insurance reimbursement procedures, and the DSM-IV. Experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.
