STARTING PAY RATE: $64,459.20 PER YEAR
FLSA STATUS: SALARY EXEMPT-PROFESSIONAL

FUTURE PROGRESSION BASE PAY RATES: System Engineer I: $30.99 PER HOUR $64,459.20 YEARLY
System Engineer II: $35.48 PER HOUR $73,798.40 YEARLY
System Engineer III: $40.62 PER HOUR $84,489.60 YEARLY
Senior System Engineer: $43.46 PER HOUR $90,396.80 YEARLY

JOB SUMMARY: Applies entry level engineering principles under direct supervision to assists in planning, development, coordination and implementation of engineering activities for the District's natural gas distribution system, infrastructure and system maps. The system engineer uses their knowledge of best practices and standards to operate, design, and maintain Okaloosa Gas District's pipelines and facilities through the entire service territory.

Incumbents in this position will be held to the District's Gold Standard for Customer Service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Applies entry-level engineering principles and standards under direct supervision to assist in designing gas mains and service lines for subdivisions, residential homes, commercial businesses, system improvements, and FDOT/county/state projects. Conducts feasibility studies that provide an initial design, scope of work, and estimates the cost of various projects. Reviews plans of new subdivisions, commercial buildings, and residential homes to resolve possible conflicts with the gas lines in these projects. Reviews plans of upcoming state, county, city projects to resolve possible conflicts with the gas lines in these projects. Sizes meters and excess flow valves for service lines. Assists in the development and implementation of design and construction standards; ensures compliance with District standards, as well as with local, state, and federal codes and ordinances. Uses Gasworks software to perform basic models to size main and service lines. Collects all the data and records needed to ensure projects are traceable, verifiable, and complete. Must be able to safely and responsibly operate an automotive vehicle assigned. Must maintain assigned vehicle through appropriate operator maintenance and by keeping said vehicle clean and neat at all times. Other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor degree in engineering with zero to two years of directly related experience.
Civil, mechanical, or petroleum engineering degree is preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Intermediate skills in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Basic skills and knowledge in AutoCAD Civil3D. Basic knowledge of engineering standards and practices. OTHER FACTORS: Regular attendance is an essential for this position. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license. May be required to work other than normal work schedules, on little to no notice as necessary. Must be in appropriate attire for an office environment. Physical Effort: Requires walking, driving, bending, stooping, crawling, climbing and light to moderate lifting, keyboarding and moderate to long stretches of sitting at a computer. Working Conditions and Hazards: The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts, which require normal safety precautions. DRUG TESTING FOR ILLEGAL DRUGS: Employees in this classification will be subject to undergo testing for illegal drugs in accordance with DOT Pipeline Safety Regulations, Code of Federal Regulation, Title 40 (49 CFR), Part 199.
