The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Upper School team as an Upper School (9th - 12th) Health Faculty member. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school's mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of intercultural fluency. The Upper School Health Faculty member reports to the Upper School Director and works closely with students and families, as well as Upper School Faculty and Staff and the Health and Wellness Department. This position will be responsible for teaching three sections during semester one and two sections during semester two of heath classes, in addition to hosting a student advisory group and teaching in our three-week experiential program (Cascade).
While other duties may be assigned, a qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks listed below:
Create and sustain a positive classroom culture, based on the mission and values of the school. Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences. Possess the ability and skills to successfully teach multiple sections of a one semester 10th grade Health class that focuses on physical, emotional, and mental health, and on the correlative relationship between them. Value and incorporate diverse perspectives in daily interactions and within the curriculum. Establish classroom expectations that create a safe and comfortable environment for all students. Collaborate and work effectively with the school's Health and Wellness Department. Create and sustain effective family partnerships, for example: communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom news via formal fall/spring conferences, written communications, and school portal. Observe/evaluate/assess students' development and maintain accurate records regarding student progress and areas of growth. Enrich or modify lessons, curriculum, materials and resources as needed to meet differentiated student needs and varying levels of progress inside and outside of the classroom. Collaborate with school counselors to incorporate their input into curriculum and classes. Utilize technology to support student success (e.g. Google Docs, Google Classroom and Learning platform) Co-teach a three-week immersive, experiential course during the Cascades period Serve as an advisor to a group of ten Upper School students, monitoring their overall well-being and serving as the primary point of contact for their parents Participate actively and with curiosity in school/division/department/committee meetings on Wednesdays until 5:15 pm, as well as student community gatherings during the school day Attend and chaperone school related events outside the scheduled school day Experience and Professional Competencies:
Experience teaching health is required, with 3 or more years preferred. Experience teaching health to Upper School students is preferred. A bachelor's degree in health or teaching with a health focus is required. Demonstrated excellence as a health educator, with a passion for sharing that with Upper School students is required. A demonstrated commitment to professional development and growth in this area is required. Successful candidates will have:

Have proficient skills in the use of technology: including, but not limited to, Microsoft Suite, Google Drive, and Outlook. Additional Requirements:
Have a current Adult and Children CPR, First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date). Meet the school's standards when completing two separate background screenings. Compensation/Benefit Information for this position:
Salary Range: $56,836 - $102,824 (based on years of full-time, lead teaching experience) Faculty employees with a master's degree, PhD and/or National Certification may be eligible for additional compensation.
