Position Overview:
As the Underwriting Department Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the overall health of our underwriting department. This role involves managing underwriting policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality mortgage loans. Collaboration with sales, secondary marketing, and other operational teams will be essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Lead day-to-day operations of the Underwriting Department.
- Develop and implement underwriting procedures to ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations.
- Provide support to underwriting staff, particularly with complex files and situations.
- Effectively manage turn times and pipeline management.
- Conduct training and coaching sessions for Underwriters on new loan products.
- Review files for credit risk exceptions and implement appropriate measures.
- Stay updated on industry and investor guideline updates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for decision-making and problem-solving.
- Assist Post Closing with addressing investor, agency, and internal audit findings.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Solid understanding of underwriting guidelines (FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA).
- Proficiency in Automated Underwriting Systems (DU, LP, GUS).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in residential lending.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management abilities.
- Experience with Encompass software is preferred.

- Bachelor's Degree

Pay: $120,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
