Keenan has an exciting career opportunity for an Underwriter. The Underwriter provides underwriting and analytical work for medical, dental, vision, life, disability and other coverages essential to supporting the account and consulting teams. Keenan, an Accretive company, is an insurance brokerage and consulting firm meeting the insurance needs of hospitals, public entities and California school districts. Keenan specializes in providing consulting services in the areas of: employee benefits, workers' compensation, loss control, financial, and property & liability.
Prepare experience-rated, self-funded and fully insured medical, prescription drug, dental and vision plan renewals and proposals for AssuredPartners Healthcare clients as well as for clients in other industries. Develop benefit comparisons and projections with high level of accuracy. Provide final review and approval of monthly loss ratio and utilization reports. Peer review renewal calculations and utilization reports. Negotiate and prepare written renewal challenge letters to carriers and vendors. Develop alternate funding workbooks projecting claims and expenses for self-funded clients and prospects. Use actuarial programs and tools to develop Incurred but Not Reported reserves. Analyze domestic utilization for Healthcare clients. Model plan design and employee contribution alternatives Develop employee enrollment migration scenarios for multiple plan design options. Update technical systems and databases and provide back-up support for obtaining client reports from vendors. Deliver presentations or renewal information to clients and field personnel as required. Develop relationships with marketing representatives of various insurance companies and compile product literature. Assist with the completion of bidding/Finalist RFP questionnaires. Participate in AP Stop-Loss, CompleteCare and other product development, training, and marketing as assigned by manager. Work with Keenan and AssuredPartners consultants as assigned by manager. Assist with due diligence analysis for client acquisitions. Maintain constructive and positive relationships with account management, consultants, and clients. Coordinate and communicate with all levels of employees. Other duties as assigned. Minimum of eight (8) years minimum underwriting experience required. Insurance carrier or broker/consultant experience required. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (financial area preferred) and/or a combination of equivalent experience and education. Highly prefer candidate with experience in benefits and compliance. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Attention to details, flexibility and strong organizational skills. Compensation: The target salary range for this position is $110,000 to $150,000 (US Dollar) annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
