Job Description Oversee the transportation department, supervising on-site and remote drivers. Act as the liaison between customer service, operations, routing and the support team. Manage trucks, trailers and tankers in the fleet. Primary Responsibilities: Manage route scheduling to ensure all scheduled customers will be serviced on time. Redirect manpower and resources as required, in order to service customers on routes that may have operational difficulties (i.e., vehicle breakdown, vehicle accident, or completely full truck). Manage driver debrief process for every route. Ensure there is documentation for every customer transaction. Give feedback to routing and Client Management teams as required. Maintain a high standard of customer service as measured by key metrics (on-time, no missed stops, loyalty, reduction of revisits, etc.). Manage customer interaction records to resolve service issues. Monitor operations and staff and recommends, when necessary, changes in methods, procedures, structure, and additions or changes in personnel to secure optimum utilization of resources. Monitor department work productivity, reports on trends, and recommends and implements changes to continually improve work productivity. Review payroll hours to ensure overtime is necessary and all employees are working efficiently. Manage route vehicles, containers, and equipment by completing truck inventories and technician audits as directed. Select, train, and develop an effective, efficient, qualified, diverse workforce. Establish and communicate performance standards and objectives; conduct performance appraisals. Recommend salary adjustments, promotions, transfers and dismissals. Coach employees on educational and job opportunities, to enhance career development and keep them informed of current problems, changes, and new developments in the department and the company by conducting team meetings. Perform "ride a-longs", ensuring technicians operate and work safely, efficiently, productively,and deliver a high level of customer service. Conduct "spot checks" to re-enforce proper technician behavior as well as communicate the value we bring to the customer. Perform pre-employment screening activities, new technician orientation, reviews of technicians and monthly safety meetings. Complete daily yard walk. Track and input DOT hours/JJ Keller. Administer Company policies and procedures, communicate to staff, interpret, as necessary,and ensure compliance and safety. Monitor and ensure that employees are performing their functions safely and productively.Make recommendations for changes or improvements in order to prevent accidents or injuries. Conduct regularly scheduled safety meetings (i.e. monthly Safety, Committee, tailgate meetings). Oversee and participate in the maintenance of Driver Qualification Files, DOT Log Files and Vehicle Condition Reports for all technicians and equipment. Ensure DQF, DOT Logs and VCR are accurate and complete; must maintain DOT files. Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management. Qualifications Basic Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED Must be 21 years or older Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record 1+ years of supervisory experience Experience using an integrated fleet, driver and compliance management software & proficient in Microsoft Office Able to work weekends, work in the field, and be available outside of normal business hours to answer calls based on business needs Ability to sit for extended periods of time Willingness and ability to work safely in a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving vehicles, electrical current, and exposure to chemicals. Willing and able to wear company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hat, eye protection, foot protection, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator (as needed)  Physically agile and dexterous and undeterred by adverse climatic conditions OR Occasionally be exposed to adverse climate conditions Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally Preferred Qualifications: In depth knowledge of DOT & RCRA regulations 40-hour Hazwoper and 8-hour refresher certifications (candidate must be willing to obtain as a condition of employment) Experience with JJ Keller software Knowledge of hazardous materials and OSHA regulations The ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers The ability to manage several tasks at once to meet deadlines Additional information Clean Earth offers competitive benefits including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance plans starting on the first day of employment; paid time off, wellness benefits, employee discount program, tuition assistance, and a 401k with company matching.
