Tourism Marketing Manager Location Baton Rouge, LA (Downtown area) : Supplemental Information This position is located at the Capitol Annex Building in Baton Rouge, LA. This position oversees domestic sales within the Office of Tourism. The Louisiana Office of Tourism (LOT) Marketing program directs, manages and monitors public relations, advertising and media agencies through contracts with private sector companies specializing in different aspects of destination marketing practices. This effort also includes partnerships with professional groups such as the Louisiana Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (LaCVB) and the Louisiana Tourism Promotion Association (LTPA) and local Convention and Visitor Bureaus (CVB). The Domestic Sales Director is charges with leadership and direction of the agency's domestic sales, sponsorships, partnerships and grants. This position will ensure that all programs and services are highly effective and efficient, with regularly measured results and that they align with the agency's goals of growing the state's tourism industry. A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional level experience in tourism, marketing, sales, advertising, public relations, lobbying, or administrative services.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.
Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:
A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of full-time work experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
A bachelor's degree in public relations, business administration, marketing, mass communication, or speech communication will substitute for one year of the required experience.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Broad from a Tourism Marketing Director. Alternative reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Direct over Tourism Marketing Representatives. Alternative reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
LOCATION OF WORK:
Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism. Other locations may be approved by SCS.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Tourism Marketing Representative 3 by the presence of managerial responsibility and direct subordinates.
Differs from Tourism Marketing Director by the absence of administrative direction for all tourism marketing programs.

Manages the work of Tourism Marketing Representatives in developing and implementing sales initiatives, such as trade shows, familiarization tours, and sales missions.
Manages event appearances; may also represent the state at consumer/trade shows and sales missions to promote tourism.
Manages research and oversees the development of sales messages for individual clients.
Manages staff engaged in organizing and implementing special events to promote Louisiana as a tourist destination.
Negotiates and oversees contracts with national and international representation firms.
Manages marketing and promotional strategies with tour representatives, convention and visitors bureaus, and other stakeholders.
Oversees the collection of data on sales leads to attract tour groups and expand into new markets.
Develops and implements evaluative tools to test and research the effectiveness of the tourism program.
