The Special Education RISE Co-Teacher position is ideal for gaining valuable experience in Special Education teaching.Candidates should have at least 48 college hours and a desire for challenging work and advancement in their education career.The position involves working with students with significant cognitive and/or pervasive developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities
• Assist in the educational and social development of students under the guidance of facilitators and teachers.• Implement Individual Education Plans for students and monitor their progress.• Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation.• Collaborate with other professionals such as speech therapists and social workers.• Assist with maintaining student records and supporting students with emotional or behavioral concerns.• Provide assistance with daily living tasks in the Life Skills Unit.• School bus riding may be required at some campuses.• Work with students in lower student-teacher ratios to support their academic needs.
Requirements
• At least 48 college hours required, bachelor's degree preferred.• Experience working with children with cognitive and/or pervasive developmental disabilities strongly preferred.• Willingness to pursue a Special Education teaching certification preferred.
Key Skills Needed
• Physical assistance for students with special needs (positioning, lifting, transferring, restraining).• Instruction and management of student behavior.• Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.• Ability to adjust to a variety of situations in the school environment.
