Department or School Site Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is currently seeking a

TELEVISION PRODUCER-DIRECTOR to develop, produce and/or direct
live and recorded television projects of KLCS, the District's television
station and assigned production projects for external and internal clients.
The Television Producer-Director positions receive general direction from
the General Manager, KLCS or Director of Programming and Operations.
Work direction is exercised over talent and technical and production
crews as assigned to specific projects. . Supervision is exercised over
lower-level staff of the Office of Labor Relations. This position works out
of the KLCS station in downtown Los Angeles, CA.
KLCS-TV, The Education Station, is a noncommercial educational
television station licensed to the Los Angeles Unified School District and
is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service. A multiple Emmy
Award winner, KLCS broadcasts to over sixteen million viewers
throughout Southern California. KLCS is carried on DirecTV, Dish
Network, and all cable systems.
Broadcasting from Mt. Wilson, the KLCS coverage area extends from
Santa Barbara to San Diego, reaching a potential viewing audience of
over five million households in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino,
Riverside, Ventura, and San Diego Counties. The Los Angeles DMA is
the second largest in the United States and is comprised of over
16,000,000 people; a full 6% of the U.S. population. The daily school
audience includes over 1 Million LAUSD K-12 and Adult students and a
staff of over 68,000 dedicated full and part-time employees. KLCS
instructional television (ITV) programming reaches over 150 school
districts throughout Southern California.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
Public television and educational media experience and comprehensive experience in broadcasting and media production. Extensive experience writing scripts and story boards. Extensive knowledge in pre/post production and knowledge of the capability and uses of television broadcasting for community, educational and instructional purposes.
Knowledge of operation of video cameras and audio equipment, pre/post-production, editing techniques, and hardware and software, for the purposes of directing the technical crew, show participants, and other

production team members.
Knowledge of operations and terminology used in the production of live or recorded television programs. Experience evolving customers' ideas into a tangible final product. Experience managing and communicating expectations tactfully to elicit results and actions from others who may vary in levels of experience. Ability to construct and keep to accelerated timelines while prioritizing multiple concurrent deliverables in a fast paced work environment. Ability to adapt to last minute changes, input from management, and be able to change a product if needed. Ability to devise creative solutions and ideas for customers, and the savviness to foresee potential roadblocks. Exceptional customer services in a fast-paced environment that may require reprioritizing of deliverables. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact and build rapport with stakeholders, customers and staff. Knowledge of both studio and field technical and artistic production as it pertains to directing and collaborating with staff and on-camera talent. Benefits BENEFITS:

Job Duties/Responsibilities TYPICAL DUTIES FOR THIS POSITION:
Coordinates tasks, particularly logistical, throughout the production cycle, which includes preproduction, production, and postproduction duties such as budgeting, scheduling, scripting, editing, audio, color
correction, graphics, and closed caption.
Develops, prepares, and makes presentations and submits proposals to businesses and private organizations and internal clients for funding of specific projects, and prepares reports to funding participants regarding

production progress and results.
Develops and recommends production budgets. Conducts research and confers with professional experts in a wide variety of subject areas, such as academics, mental health, and social issues in the development of projects.
Assures appropriateness of content by conferring with clients and content experts. Develops and outlines project ideas, writes and edits scripts and correspondence. Interviews, conducts auditions, selects and hires, and rehearses talent for on and off-air roles and participation in productions. Establishes schedules, time parameters, and times segments and provides time cues and other production information to technical crew and talent.
Directs technical crew, show participants, and other production team members during live presentations or recording including directing participants and technicians in taking immediate action in response to
problems.
Supervises production and post-production process: editing, graphics, voice-overs, narration, and music. Travels to production project locations with video production equipment, as necessary. Minimum Requirements ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
*Education: Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree, preferably including courses in telecommunications,
video and film production, and related subjects. Experience beyond that required may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year
basis.
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in producing or directing live, taped, or film productions, preferably for public television. Special: A valid California Driver License. Use of an automobile. IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to qualify you need to meet the educational requirements. As such, you MUST upload your official
