Job Description SummaryGE Vernova's Advanced Research business is the central innovation engine for GE's portfolio of energy businesses, which will be unified under one banner called GE Vernova. The research organization is made up of 250+ researchers representing virtually every major scientific and engineering discipline. Collectively, they are driving major research programs and initiatives to decarbonize power, accelerate renewables, and promote electrification and the creation of a 21st century grid fit to power a zero-carbon energy future.Work with Scientists and Engineers to support the development and execution of test methods to understand the effect of environment and mechanical loading on the behavior of materials. In addition to testing, also prepare and image samples using standard metallographic techniques, including cutting, mounting, polishing, etching and optical and SEM microscopy. Run and maintain specialized test equipment. Document and report data and observations from all work.Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities:Prepare samples and instrumentation as needed for testing.Aid in the development of unique testing capability to meet project needs.Operate test systems involving high temperature/high pressure water environments and high temperature oxidation/corrosion.Set up data acquisition systems, collect data and provide preliminary analysis.Prepare reports of test data as needed.Maintain, repair and replace test equipment as needed.Follow all prescribed safety and quality regulations including compliance.Promote safety and good housekeeping practices.Requirements:Associate degree in an engineering, technology, science or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of experience.Experience in a research environment or industrial laboratory including handling of chemicals.Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Ability to perform multiple, concurrent tasks.Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills Must be 18 years or olderMust be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NYLegal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
