Technical Services team members within Vulcan are quality control and product specialists with the following responsibilities:Oversee the quality control program to ensure compliance with agency and customer specifications.Understand product qualities and uses in all applications such as asphalt, concrete, base, riprap, etc.Review specifications and assist sales in determining products to meet customer needs.Work with sales, customers, and operations to address quality control and technical issues.Work with agencies like DOTs to develop and modify specifications, acceptance criteria, etc.Work with the operations team to improve plant efficiencies.Determine testing needs for aggregate and provide applicable test data to customers as needed.The trainee program consists of a nine to twelve-month training program exposing them to all aspects of the business. After the program, the trainee should be ready to move into a full Technical Services Specialist role. The training program includes time spent in the following areas:Construction, aggregate mining, and crushingQuality Control testing of construction aggregatesSales and MarketingProduct uses including asphalt, concrete, etc.Crushing plant efficiency and optimizationSafety and Health in Aggregates MiningTechnical Services in the aggregate industryWhat You'll Do:Champion Safety. Ensure adherence to safety policies and protocols and compliance with regulatory standards in all operations activities. Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure all assigned plants have zero accidents and fully comply with all Vulcan policies and procedures.Compliance . Learn about legal and regulatory compliance and identifying and mitigating operational risks. This may include safety protocols, environmental regulations, etc.Training and Development . Engage in comprehensive training to understand the company's operations, policies, procedures, and systems.Learn the Business. This position will rotate through temporary assignments to gain a holistic understanding of Vulcan Materials Company, our operations, the day-to-day duties of many departments, and the importance of collaboration.Learn the Operations . Participate in hands-on training on operating aggregate crushing and processing equipment, pit development, drilling and blasting practices, mobile equipment operation, quality control, customer service, maintenance, and overall facility management.Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.Skills You'll Need:Education. A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Geology is required.Experience. No experience necessaryFlexibility. Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
