Overview: Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking a Radiochemical Technical Professional with experience in the development of radiochemistry techniques. A qualites application supporting the largest radioisotope production and research portfolio within the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science for Isotope R&D and Production. This position will grant you the opportunity to work with rare nuclear materials, and the unique facilities at ORNL, including the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) and the Radiochemical Engineering Development Center (REDC). This position resides in the Radiochemical Process Development (RPD) Group in the Radioisotope Science and Technology Division (RSTD) at ORNL. It is the mission of RPD to develop applications for a wide range of radioisotopes for scientific and industrial purposes. These include several alpha/beta emitting radioisotopes, heavy actinides Bk-249, Es-254, and Fm-257 for fundamental chemistry research and the discovery of new elements; Cf-252 for neutron emission applications; Pu-239 for NASA applications; and Ni-63 and Pm-147 for industrial applications. As a Radiochemical Technical Professional, you will be supporting the evaluation, implementation, testing, and optimization of radiochemical processes. Under strict quality specifications and in accordance with regulations governing radiological and nuclear facilities, the work must be performed with positive team dynamics and efficiency. This will enable us to meet project deadlines and goals. In order to fill this position, we are seeking an individual with excellent attention to detail who can be a team player.

Major Duties/Responsibilities: Actively engage in scientific, technical, and engineering collaborations. Be committed to promoting a positive culture within the organization and strong teamwork. Ensure compliance with the requirements of the environment, safety, health, and quality programs. Participate in the development of reports, presentations, and operator aids or guidelines related to technical services and fabrication. Basic Qualifications: B.S. in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 2-4 years of technical experience in a lab environment. A comparable combination of education and experience will be considered. Excellent attention to detail will be required when working with exotic and expensive materials including meticulous handling, physical dexterity, and documentation Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory. Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs. Ability to solve basic research problems. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in PC Microsoft Office, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases, such as Excel, Adobe Acrobat and Word.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with lab equipment operation, start-up, and maintenance Experience in inorganic and/or analytical chemistry
