Job Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Technical Large Loss Lead to join our Claims team in our Plymouth, MN office or remotely nationwide. The Large Loss Lead on the Claims Technical Team manages complex and high exposure claims management at the Organizational level. This position is responsible for facilitating large loss reporting and large loss management. Also provides support for technical claim projects. This role works closely with the Senior Claims Director and other members of the Claims Technical Team as well as other internal business partners. Prepares and presents reports related to large losses files to Executive Leadership, Senior Claims Management, and other stakeholders. May manage assigned staff and/or mentor junior members of the team.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for organizing and executing the monthly Technical Claims Committee (TCC) meeting.

Independently identify potential and actual complex and/or large loss claims to review at the TCC;
Oversee communication with internal stakeholders including Claims Leads, Claims Managers, Front-line Adjusters, Technical Team members, and standing members of the TCC;
Provide training to Front-line Adjusters on effectively presenting at the TCC; and
Oversee administration of Technical Claims Committee meetings.

Manage the rolling forecast model and ensure accuracy. Evaluate and identify claims for escalated consistent with internal large loss processes. (Example: TCC, added to Watch Lists, Significant Claims list, or Claims of Note records.)
Attend and assist Senior Claims Director - Technical with Watch List meetings.

Investigate and research claim details of Large Loss matters and ensure full understanding to respond to leadership questions.
Prepare data and participate in technical meetings at regular intervals including:

Claims of Note monthly meetings, and
Large Loss Committee (LLC) quarterly meetings.
Preparation and participation will necessitate attendance and collaboration with Senior Claims Director. Duties also include monitoring ongoing developments in claims that have an actual/potential incurred of $1M/$5M or more. Must have thorough understanding of claims coming from all our businesses and how developments may impact the ultimate claim resolution.

Distill and present significant amount of technical data into an executive level summary and communicate at an executive level.
Collaborate with senior leadership and internal Reinsurance department on potential and actual Large Losses at regular intervals.
Attend trials for significant high exposure claims. May include involvement with the adjuster or defense counsel regarding the strategy discussions and/or settlement negotiations.
Manage and complete assigned large loss and technical claim projects.
Requirements:

Must possess high level skills and extensive claims technical knowledge including products and industry. Legal background is essential for specialty commercial insurance products.
Must have superior analytical, negotiation, decision making, problem solving, organizational and presentation skills. Must be a proven self-starter with excellent multi-tasking and relationship management skills.
Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively including expert oral, written, and listening skills. Must be able to work both independently and as a member of a team and have the ability to interact with diverse groups of individuals.
Must maintain a high level of accuracy and provide follow-through on projects.
Requires the ability to maintain confidential information. Must be able to work in a fast pace and rapidly changing environment.
Demonstrated proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office suite and other Claims tracking tools.
Must maintain strong professional knowledge of industry trends, legislative issues, and the marketplace for specialty insurance.
Must be able to act as coach and mentor junior members of the department.
Education and Experience Preferred

Bachelor's degree required
J.D. strongly preferred7-10 years of commercial, specialty claims experience or related education/ insurance experience
Experience with mentoring junior staff is preferred.

Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires but your recruiter will share more specific compensation information with you during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $138,000 - $162,000, based on the factors aforementioned. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include: 401(k) savings and annual contributions of up to 12% of annual salary, competitive paid time off programs, medical, vision and dental plans, mental health support programs, life and disability insurance, paid parental leave and a variety of voluntary benefits.
