Responsibilities
• Work collaboratively across disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds; encouraging critical thinking about health disparities and the impact of social determinants on healthcare.• Provide leadership on the content and design of the midwifery didactic and clinical coursework.• Support diverse clinical placements across different organizations in both healthcare and community settings.• Offer insight to the DNP curriculum committee, participate in DNP admission reviews, and contribute to enhancing a robust program.• Mentor and advise DNP-Midwifery students, ensuring that their academic and clinical experiences are inclusive and culturally sensitive.• Provide leadership and expertise in teaching about health inequities, anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.• Actively lead DNP-Midwifery efforts in program development and quality improvement.• Contribute to the academic community's understanding of how to improve healthcare outcomes for underrepresented and marginalized communities.• Encourage students to actively address health inequities, eliminate disparities, and serve diverse patient populations with cultural competence.• Demonstrate continued scholarship and research relevant to teaching nationally and internationally.
Requirements
• Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree (or foreign equivalent)• Active certification as a certified nurse midwife (CNM)• Current license or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and advanced practice nurse practitioner (ARNP) in the state of Washington.• Minimum five years of experience teaching graduate-level nursing clinical and didactic courses• Practice education and leadership experience in healthcare or community settings• Record of scholarship relevant to teaching nationally and internationally• Substantial and recent (within 5 years) clinical experience as a midwifery provider
