Peraton has an opening for Ground Systems Engineer to support the SAGE team at the White Sands Complex in Las Cruces, NM. The Systems Engineer will join a team of engineers dedicated to maintaining the health and safety of the STPSat-6 spacecraft and associated ground equipment. The STPSat-6 mission will advance U.S. scientific and national security capabilities across the mission areas of Communications, Space Weather and Situational Awareness. Peraton is the prime contractor for NASA at the White Sands Complex (WSC) near Las Cruces, New Mexico. The System Engineering group supports the ground system for the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) fleet , the STPSat-6 mission, and other applicable ground systems.  
Responsibilities: Individual will act as the responsible person of contact for systems across SAGE Be responsible for implementing engineering changes to SAGE infrastructure and SSOC infrastructure. Support as the technical POC for all vendor level agreements for SAGE. Update/Create drawings and documentation for SAGE infrastructure, using applicable CAD software. Identify, plan, and execute against obsolescence, reliability, and sustainability issues of all components across SAGE by reporting on State-of-Health. Facilitate Discrepancy Report analysis and trends to identify issues. Replace supporting Hardware Engineers after 6 months of on-the-job training of systems. Collect and maintain all locations for SAGE drawings and documentation. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 2-7 years of related experience. Experience writing technical documentation and instructions. Experience coding and command line execution. C++, Python, Linux, and PowerShell Willingness and ability to learn multiple systems and individual components including, but not limited to: RF Components, Modems, Network Switches, Timing, Antenna Control Systems, Servers, Fiber Distribution, FEPs, and Cross-Domain Solutions. Experience implementing product lifecycle management. Security Clearance this position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship. An Interim Secret clearance is acceptable to start. Desired Qualifications: Active security clearance. Experience as a Systems Administrator in a Linux environment Master's degree in: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. Demonstrated, hands-on experience with RF Components, Modems, Network Switches, Timing, Antenna Control Systems, Servers, Fiber Distribution, FEPs, and Cross-Domain Solutions. Familiarity with NASA System Engineering processes or the System Engineering discipline. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy while understanding broader technical issues. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal forms with vendors, peers, upper-level management, and the NASA customer. Excellent organizational skills such as prioritizing and completing multiple tasks within critical deadlines. Ability to work in both a team environment and independently as a proactive self-starter.
