EB Groton Shipyard Overview Experienced Systems Administrator responsible for the day-to-day operation of computer system (Local Area Network) supporting U.S. Navy Submarine crews. Position is on-site only due to system classification. With support of the system engineers, you will participate with the installation, monitoring, patching, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network and system hardware and software. You will be responsible for initial troubleshooting of system performance issues, and working with the system engineers to analyze and resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion. You will be required to provide end-user training and assist users with system-related problems. You will be required to assist third-party software vendors with the installation, maintenance and updates of their installed software in accordance with contract and established procedures. The Systems Administrator is also responsible in assisting the organizations Security Officer and Project Lead/Supervisor with enforcing all governing policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Patch and Update system components Perform daily performance checks Perform system backups Maintain onsite relationship with Navy users Maintain account records and other records as required Train and assist users. Maintain system security Perform routine vulnerability scans Responsibilities Strong written and oral communication skills and perform well in a team environment. Basic Windows Server troubleshooting (Domain Controllers, SQL servers, Exchange Servers, Application Servers) Windows client Operating system operation Basic computer repair Printer Maintenance Active Directory Record Keeping Backup and Recovery concepts General security concepts Communication (oral and written) Organizing and Planning Work Independently Additional
VMWare environment Windows SCCM Cisco network hardware operations Linux Bash shell Windows Powershell 802.1x Customer Support Ability to make sound decisions based on imperfect information Qualifications Required: 2-10 years of relevant experience High School Diploma or G.E.D. Able to obtain DoD Top Secret clearance Able to obtain DoD 8570 Certification within 6 months of employee start date Internal candidates must be from organizations outside of Operations (Casciano/Gabriel) Preferred: Previous exposure and experience with end users (Navy Crew) to train and maintain networks Industry cyber certifications (examples: COMPTia Security+, CISM, CASP, GIAC,), prior Navy Information Technology Submarines division member.
