Job summary
The Switchboard Operator is the first point of contact, greeting callers with a personable voice.They answer and route incoming calls and communicate messages effectively for all CARTI locations and specialties.This position requires the ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner.
Job seniority: entry level
Responsibilities
• Answer a large volume of inbound calls daily, providing a high-quality caller experience.• Resolve escalated tasks in a calm and efficient manner.• Provide instructions for Imaging procedures and assist patients and others contacting the clinic by phone.• Take complete and accurate messages and navigate multiple software systems within one call.• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all medical specialties.• Adhere to system guidelines, policies, and procedures while meeting the needs of callers.• Transfer patients to the business office for financial arrangements or assistance.• Participate in staff training and act as a resource for co-workers.• Follow communication scripts when handling different topics.
Requirements
• Minimum of two years of customer service experience, preferably in a medical office setting or call center.• Ability to listen and assimilate new information rapidly.• Knowledge of medical terminology desired.• Understanding of maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA standards.• Accurate data entry and proficiency in internet usage and MS Office applications.• Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with healthcare providers.• Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.• Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.• Ability to efficiently navigate through multiple systems.• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively handle calls using customer service skills.
