General Purpose
The Sustainability Coordinator leads and facilitates sustainability Village initiatives.
Essential Functions:
Research, recommend and coordinate sustainability policies and programs to the organization and partner agencies.
Identify relevant programs, coordinate grant applications, provide technical assistance, implement program requirements, and maintain program participation in order to maximize benefit to the community.
Develop and facilitate events, presentations, workshops, and demonstrations to educate community members about sustainability practices and programs.
Establish and lead Village interdepartmental sustainability committee; identify opportunities for shared programming in order to maximize impact of environmental improvements, waste reduction practices, external funding, etc.
Coordinate with Village leadership to implement sustainability pillar of the Comprehensive Plan.
Serve as the primary point of contact on environmental sustainability.
Respond to resident inquiries and provide professional and technical support to residents regarding sustainable tax credits, village codes, and state and federal incentives.
Identify ways the village can adopt sustainable best practices to streamline the user experience and encourage resident participation in incentive programs.
Serve as the liaison to the Environmental and Forestry Commission; attend meetings; provide technical assistance.
Attend public meetings as a sustainability representative as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, sustainable business, public administration, or related field.
Two (2) to three (3) years' minimum professional work experience in sustainability, natural resources, and/or environmental studies.
Other Requirements
Comprehensive knowledge of current local and regional sustainability principles, trends, and practices.
Read, clearly speak, and legibly write the English language.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and GIS as well as Adobe Acrobat, and ability to learn other software as needed.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, using complex sentences, and proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory and collaborative working relationships with subordinates, consultants, contractors, vendors, other operating departments, and the public.
Ability to acquire and apply thorough knowledge of Village and Department policies and procedures.
Valid driver's license.
The weekly work schedule is normally 40 hours in duration, however, may be altered or extended in the event of emergency, personnel shortage or workload. The position may require occasional evening or weekend work in conjunction with assisting with public meetings and special events.

Salary Range: $71,954 – $102,590 annual (DOQ), plus excellent benefits.
