Sushi Chef Location Ames, IA (Somerset Village area) : , Pay is based on experience Sushi Chefs will be responsible for preparing our sushi rice, chopping, slicing and filleting various kinds of fish and communicating with the EC, SHC, SC, SSC, KM for supplies needed for the daily operations of the Sushi Bar. They will be able to customize orders according to preferences and food allergy considerations. They will ensure that all ingredients used are of the highest quality. They will always be able to work under pressure and maintain restaurant standards. They will be an hourly employee; they will be scheduled as needed weekly and may be considered "On Call" on their scheduled days off. Standard Sushi Chefs will demonstrate expert levels of cutting, slicing, and filleting of fish. They will inspect the daily quality of prepped items and will communicate with the SHC, SSC if the quality is sub-par. They will maintain a clean work environment to prevent contamination, will document inventory levels, report any problems with equipment to the EC or SHC. They will practice good manners with all members of staff and guests at the sushi bar and provide correct communication skills to ensure requests and allergy considerations are met.
Sushi Chefs can be from any level of background with at least a High School diploma or GED equivalent, Associates Degrees in Culinary Arts are preferred but not required as candidates will demonstrate the ability and eagerness to learn. They will be willing to attend a food handling course if they have not had previous experience in the industry prior to employment. They will follow the food and safety regulations established by governmental agencies along with the regulations of the company. They will assist servers with orders for the sushi bar and will deliver exceptional customer service skills coupled with excellent time management skills.

Salary: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
