Salary: $26.44 per/hour (Annual is $55,000)
About the Position The Survivor Leadership Coordinator position is in the Survivor Leadership Program under the Policy/Survivor Leadership Department. The Survivor Leadership Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of Resilient Voices, our Los Angeles-based local survivor empowerment program, assists the Survivor Leadership Program Manager with the operations of the National Survivor Network, and is a key team member of the Survivor Leadership Program.
This position requires thorough knowledge and understanding of a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, human rights, strengths-based approach in working with survivors of human trafficking. Cast's Survivor Leadership Program supports a public health approach to ending human trafficking that is less reliant on criminal legal intervention , and a harm reduction lens that aims to support safety for individuals engaged in all forms of labor, including the sex trades. Alignment with these values is essential for this position. This position requires some travel throughout Los Angeles County, and occasionally state-wide and/or nationally . This position is based in Los Angeles, and is a full-time non-exempt position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES Resilient Voices (RV) Designs, plans, organizes, and conducts RV meetings, trainings and events; Leads the completion of deliverables and goals of the program; Prepares agenda, logistics, notes, and track attendance at RV meetings through the electronic database; Lead the development and implementation, in collaboration with the SLPM, of a strategic plan for RV; Provides support and mentorship to the leaders within RV; Coordinate capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, and collection of metrics for NSN activities; Coordinates and oversees any RV interns or volunteers; Reports regularly to the SLPM about activities and concerns with RV. Survivor Leadership Work closely with the SLPM on strategic development for the overall Survivor Leadership Programs, including the National Survivor Network; Participate in regular Survivor Leadership Team meetings (including all National Survivor Network Working Groups); Travel to participate in national conferences, advocacy initiatives and trainings is limited and requires pre-authorization from the Program Manager and CEO; Serve as presenter, trainer, panelist, moderator, keynote speaker, etc. at strategic public advocacy events upon supervisor approval; Assist the SLPM with other tasks related to the NSN. Other Duties : Perform other duties in line with Policy/Survivor Leadership Department and/or Cast goals
Physical demands are typical for an office environment, including sitting, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs , speaking, hearing, and seeing - reasonable accommodations can be made.
REQUIREMENTS Lived experience of Human Trafficking; Willingness to learn about and advocate for other kinds of experiences of trafficking. For example, applicants more familiar with sex trafficking must be committed to learning more about labor trafficking to effectively advocate for all survivors and against all forms of exploitation, and vice versa; Experience in program coordination; Prior experience in advocacy and local/state/federal policy work a plus; Demonstrated leadership and experience in community organizing and survivor leadership; Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge of issues involved in working with diverse populations and organizations; Possesses knowledge of common responses to trauma and and willingness to learn and practice individual and collective trauma-informed care; Ability to work independently and able to meet deadlines; Experience in working on multi-disciplinary teams; Excellent oral and written communication skills, including facilitation and conflict resolution; Ability to operate computer systems, including Internet, email, databases, and word processing software (Microsoft Office Suite); Organized, detailed, flexible, and able to multi-task to identify and respond to shifting priorities; Ability to work effectively with a team and ability to work through conflict; Ability to maintain a collaborative and professional demeanor with clients/members, Cast staff, agency staff/board, vendors, consultants, allied professionals, donors, and members of the public; Accept and abide by the mission and philosophy of Cast and the values of the National Survivor Network; Availability to travel independently throughout the Los Angeles region, with some statewide, national, or international travel that includes evenings and weekends; Ability to thrive in a mission-driven environment.
