Position Summary
We're seeking a Compliance Specialist who will play a pivotal role in ensuring our adherence to state regulations regarding surplus lines taxes. This individual will be responsible for processing, handling, reporting, and managing transactions for our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Process surplus lines transactions for our production teams, ensuring compliance with state deadlines and requirements.
- Complete and file accurate tax reports on a regular basis, meeting all state-specific timelines and payment requirements.
- Verify data accuracy through meticulous report running and analysis.
- Maintain up-to-date records in our database and document tax filings appropriately.
- Stay informed about changes in surplus lines requirements across various states and implement necessary adjustments for compliance.
- Collaborate with Corporate Compliance and other departments to ensure integrity in data and reporting.
- Assist with surplus lines audits by verifying transactions, documents, and filings.
- Undertake related projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in accounting or a related field, with at least one year of experience in surplus lines tax filing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong mathematical skills and proficiency in computer usage, particularly with MS Office products, especially Excel.
- Ability to comprehend and apply complex tax laws.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
