Surgical Scheduler

Responsible for ensuring, organizing, and maintaining an active, accurate, and operational surgical schedule for the Main OR, SDS and Endoscopy.  Responsible for securing, evaluating, and processing operating room scheduling forms, Carelink and Epic depot cases. Enters all data according to the scheduling guidelines. Assists in coordinating PAT, med eval and anesthesia consult schedules. Seeks to confirm availability of physicians, operating rooms and equipment to ensure efficient utilization of resources.  Updates schedule to accommodate cancellations and changes. Ensures that sufficient time is allocated for each surgical case, procedure and appointment. 
Principal Accountabilities: 1. Interfaces with appropriate staff to ensure all necessary equipment will be available.
2. Scheduling, rescheduling and cancelling patient surgical cases, procedures and appointments as required. 
3. Maintains data integrity process while complying with HIPAA regulations. 
4. Assists with pre-surgical testing appointments as needed.
5. Courteously receives incoming calls through the Cisco call center. 
6. Acts as liaison between the clinical staff, surgeons' offices, and physicians to ensure accurate and efficient scheduling of procedures. 
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required:
1. High School Diploma or some college preferred 
2. 1 to 3 years of prior experience or training within a surgical setting from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired. 
Preferred:
1. Prior surgical scheduling experience preferred. 
2. Prior EMR experience and call center experience. 
3. Knowledge of cpt and ICD10 codes, Epic, media manager, Microsoft Word and excel experience preferred.
4. Exceptional customer service and organizational skills.
