The position will display self-sufficiency, motivation, be detail-oriented and have outstanding communication skills that help them navigate any situation with ease. Ultimately, the Surgery Coder will provide high-level analysis of medical records and execution of coding skills in a fast paced environment. Responsible for accurate coding and abstracting of medical information for billing and statistical purposes and entering the information into Epic. Ensure timely coding and completion of patient accounts to meet established department standards and/or goals. Maintains 95% accuracy or greater in accordance with department standards. Advanced knowledge of medical coding rules and regulations to include, but not limited to, compliance, CMS regulation and CCI Attends meetings as required. Is respectful and courteous to all people, including coworkers and clients. Able to work independently as the job is remote. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Displays positive attitude and team spirit by being willing to assist wherever needed. Required: 1-2 years professional medical coding experience (CPT, ICD10, HCPCS) Required: Coding certification through the AAPC or AHIMA Required: Specialty coding in one or more of the following: Surgery (ENT, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Ophthalmology Preferred: 1 year experience in Epic. Preferred: Prior experience working for a medical billing/coding entity a plus! High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of a formal course of study in medical terminology, disease processes, anatomy and physiology Completion of a formal course of study in medical coding and regulatory compliance.
