Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position will serve as the lead traffic engineer for District 2 and as the supervisor for the traffic office. The successful candidate will need to organize and prioritize the traffic office workload and provide training and guidance for the staff engineers. The traffic office is responsible for the review of traffic control plans for permits and contracts, reviews for traffic impact studies, develop and administer district contracts, review of NDOT plans and specifications, review public requests. The traffic office will also perform speed studies, traffic counts, sight distance studies, work with local events to develop traffic operation plans. To see full Class Specifications visit: To Qualify In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements: Qualifications Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and one year of experience performing professional engineering work; OR one year of experience as a Professional Engineer in Nevada State service; OR current licensure as a Professional Engineer and an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes An incumbent registered as a Professional Engineer in another state must become registered as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment. The practice of engineering does not include land surveying or the work ordinarily performed by persons who operate or maintain machinery or equipment. Persons appointed to this class on or after July 1, 1995, must be licensed as a Professional engineer in the State of Nevada; persons appointed prior to that date who are not licensed may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities. Special Requirements Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of employment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
