JOB SUMMARY:
The Technology Resource Teacher (TRT) is responsible for providing training and technology integration strategies for administration, teachers, and staff to support curriculum and innovative instructional practices. The position develops model lessons and instructional products while also providing instructional technology coaching and support in the classroom. The position will serve as the instructional technology leader across all content areas. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. Plan, manage, and oversee site based implementation of the division's Educational Technology Plan and the State Technology Plan for Virginia. Work with building administrators to determine instructional technology training needs of staff and to integrate these needs into the school's professional development plan. Work with the Instructional Technology department to develop and conduct appropriate professional development sessions related to the use of instructional software, applications, hardware, and related peripherals. Meets regularly with instructional staff to plan and develop lessons supported by instructional technology. Research, investigate, and learn to use all site-based specific instructional hardware and software to support teaching and learning. Collaborate with staff from the Instructional Technology department to evaluate, select, and implement technology to support curriculum in all content areas. Provides technical expertise and assistance for all on-site applications and instructional software. Provide a high level of support, through modeling and coaching, to teachers and other school staff in the use of innovative instructional practices and supportive instructional technology that lead to improved student learning. Promotes and announces instructional technology professional development opportunities. Assists teachers with preparation for TSIP assessment. Identifies and helps to resolve basic diagnosis and troubleshooting for hardware, productivity applications, and network issues and refers problems to Information Technology for repair/service. Maintains integrity of software licensing and adheres to the Division's Acceptable Use Policy. Serves on site-based and division committees as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must demonstrate high quality and effective teaching strategies in the classroom. Ability to implement appropriate instructional technology to support SOLs and other instructional strategies. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with instructional and technical staff with little direct supervision. Must demonstrate analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Apple iPad apps, and Interactive Board technology. Must possess advanced oral and written communication skills; public relation, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to research, locate, and deploy web resources to support instruction. Ability to plan, develop, and deliver training and support materials related to the integration of software applications, hardware, and peripherals into classroom instruction based on current educational research. Ability to develop complex instructions, documentations, and technical reports.
Work requires stooping, bending, standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), kneeling, reaching, crawling, and repetitive hand movements (typing, simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and manipulation). EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a Bachelor's degree and hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license; Master's Degree in Instructional/Educational Technology preferred; a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience.
