Location: Upward Bound (UB) and Upward Bound Math-Science ( UBMS ) programs provide academic enrichment courses and activities to high school students who come from low-income families and/or identify as first-generation college students. Selected UB and UBMS students are from Washington Technology Magnet, Hmong College Prep Academy, STEP Academy, and Roseville Area High School. The summer enrichment program focuses on enhancing the academic skills of the student and provides fast-paced, intensive academic coursework and other social, cultural, and recreational enrichment activities.
We are hiring Summer Program Mentor as Professional Service Contractors for the 2023 TRIO UB Programs Summer Enrichment Program starting June 17, 2024-July 26, 2024. The primary responsibility of the Summer Program Mentor is to assist the TRIO professional staff and instructors during the summer program held at Metro State.

Job Description: Major Responsibilities:
Attend a Summer Staff Orientation on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Attend staff meetings during the summer program. Create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for all our program staff and students. Assist program staff and instructors with various tasks such as making copies, classroom set-up/clean-up, lunch set-up/clean-up, and other clerical tasks. Escort various groups of students to their assigned classrooms. Assist students with assignments in the classroom and tutor small groups of students if needed. Serve as a positive role model and leader to colleagues and students. Facilitate and lead student activities and energizers. Monitor areas where students gather to ensure the safety of all program participants. Provide insights and feedback for continuous improvement of the summer program. Required Qualifications: Qualifications: An applicant must have at least one year of college experience (and have not graduated from college). Applicant must possess strong leadership qualities and have the ability to function as a team player. Other important qualities and experiences are: Ability to communicate constructively and effectively with UB staff and students. Be professional, dependable, punctual, and prompt. Be sensitive, respectful, and understanding of the needs of economically and academically disadvantaged and students who are ethnically, culturally, racially and otherwise diverse. Have the ability to work responsibly and independently under limited supervision. Must be able to establish and maintain a professional, trusting, and productive working relationship with program staff and students. Other Requirements: Must be able to commit to Summer Staff Orientation on Saturday, June 8th, 2024. Attend all staff meeting during the entirety of the summer program. Commit to the working schedule.
