Summary
We are seeking a Summer Camp Counselor to co-lead our camp. Our summer camp is composed of elementary school aged campers ages 5-12 years old. Training for the position will start May 29th (may be open to start on 6/3) and the first date of camp will be June 10th. The position is seasonal and ends on August 29th. This position is full time M-F with approximate hours from 8:30am-5:00pm with some occasional slight variations when needed.
What do Camp Counselors do? You?ll be responsible for leading the campers activities based on weekly themes and daily scheduled activities. The job duties of a Camp Counselor include implementing our summer programming, educating children, setting up and tearing down equipment, and most importantly keeping all children safe and accounted for. Being reliable and able to build good relationships with children are two essential traits of a Camp Counselor. Our ideal applicant is a team player who can bring a positive attitude to work every day.

2024 SUMMER CAMP AND WEEKLY THEME SCHEDULE June 10-14: Green Thumbs: Let?s get ready to grow and learn as you go! Explore the world of science and investigate the soil, bugs, plants, and all that goes into growing a garden in our backyard. June 17-21: Bees, Butterflies, and Fireflies Galore: All creatures great and small contribute to the health and beauty of our shared planet. Learn how to help some of the most endangered as we create a friendly habitat for these special insects, create crafts, and celebrate the wonders they bring to our Earth. June 24-28 : Amazing race: Teams will be given a set of challenges each day and will need to complete each challenge before moving on to the next. Some of the challenges will include scavenging for nature, all wrapped up, it?s a toss-up and many more. Some days we will even be traveling back in time to look for dino eggs, construct a Viking ship, and find treasure. July 1-3 : Red, white, and blue tie-dye: This week will spend time tie-dying different cloth materials like towels, scrunchies, shirts, and more! July 8-12: Nature?s artwork: explore what wonders nature has to offer by creating art from items campers will find while exploring the forest behind our school. July 15-19 :   Magic, myth, and alchemy: create mythological creatures; make magic wands; brew your potions; and try your hand at alchemy. July 22-26: Water Week: Spend the week at Booth Lake frolicking in the cool waters, playing water games, and exploring the wildlife and plant life that depend on the lake water for survival. July 29-August 2 : Outdoor Culinary delights: Gain hands on skills to create healthy, nourishing, & delicious foods all in our backyard! Spend the week learning how to cook various foods including some from our own gardens using the sun, campfire, and more! August 5-9 : Summer Olympics: The children will be divided into countries that will each design a country flag and name their country. The teams will compete in the Olympic games. August 12-16: Inventors workshop: Curiosity, experiment, and imagination will help each child find their inner inventor! We?ll have brainstorming sessions and campers will be given challenges that they?ll need to invent the solution too. August 19-23: Camping Week : camp songs, bonfires, outdoor cooking, smores, forest hikes, and Thursday overnight tent sleepover in our backyard. August 26-29: Friendship & goodbye week: Saying goodbye to summer friends. Make friendship bracelets, play hopscotch, and other fun and free choice activities. August 29th: Pizza party: last day of camp: last day we?ll have a pizza party and fun in the sun!

 

 
**The Climbing Tree is closed on July 4 th & 5 th to celebrate Independence Day & on August 30 th for teacher in-service**
Duties Responsibilities Follow and implement lesson plans for outdoor activities Lead recreational and educational activities (such as STEAM activities, swimming, crafting, sports/games) Escort and oversee children Educate campers through games and explorations Set up and maintain equipment Address and resolve any behavioral issues among students Make sure all safety rules are followed Ensure indoor and outdoor learning environments are kept clean and that campers don?t litter recreational areas or nature Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed Keep accurate incident logs Requirements Skills Familiarity with various outdoor activities Enjoys nature & being outside Patient and reliable Organizational and communication skills A love for children Energetic and positive personality Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina to follow strenuous activities like hiking, running, crouching or carrying children) High school diploma Can successfully pass background checks run by the WI Department of Children & Families Nice To Haves Proven experience as Camp Counselor or similar role working with children First aid- and CPR-certified preferred Experience in planning curriculum and/or implementing lesson plans Knowledgeable about nature and outdoors Knowledge of area (East Troy community) Benefits Lots of fresh air and sunshine Great team of coworkers and supportive administration Fun and adventure every day!
