Job Description:Barr is seeking a structural engineer to join our team and work with multidisciplinary project teams providing structural engineering and related technical expertise. Project assignments may include design and analysis of structural systems, project management, preparation of plans and specifications, report writing, cost estimating, and construction observation. Clients will primarily consist of mining, manufacturing, power, refinery, and other industrial companies. The work may require short-term, out-of-town work assignments.This individual will also have an opportunity to play a role in day-to-day client service and business development as a key part of building a structural engineering team in the established Salt Lake City, Utah, office . Business development activities may include building and maintaining client relationships, tracking marketing leads and project opportunities, developing proposals and presentations, and networking and working to inform clients of the full range of capabilities offered by the firm.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering (including structural analysis and steel and concrete design)10 years of experience directly related to the job responsibilities described aboveStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clientsDemonstrated business development and client relationship development skills.Attention to detail, accuracy, and completenessWillingness to work in a project team environment that encourages self-initiativeA flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needsDemonstrated project organization and management skillsWork experience with AutoCAD and structural engineering analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAAD Pro, or MathCADProfessional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain PE certification within one yearLegal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr now, or in the futureValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordPreferred Qualifications:12 or more years of related work experienceMaster's degree in civil or structural engineeringStrong technical and problem-solving skills in a wide range of structural analysis and designExperience in the consulting industryDemonstrated ability to work independently and with teams of multiple disciplinesEstablished network with area clients and the ability to develop or foster ongoing relationships and maintain a high level of client serviceA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is/can be based out of Barr's Salt Lake City, Utah; Reno, Nevada; or Denver, Fort Collins, or Wheat Ridge, Colorado, offices.Colorado and Nevada Applicants Only:Compensation:The anticipated base salary range for this position is $100,000-$140,000/year . Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
