Details of the offer

Storytelling and Operations Executive About Prota We are an operator-investor group () that brings multiple forms of capital to bold ideas. Our teams utilize time-tested approaches, strategic thinking, story-driven design, and rock-solid engineering to bring digital & physical products to market, including Web3 applications, AI, IoT, and other emerging technologies.
Every member of Prota is expected to bring a genuine entrepreneurial spirit to the table; many of our product ideas are generated internally and brought to market in collaboration with our incubation partners, which has historically included large enterprises, other venture studios/incubators, and new founder teams.
This is a remote, part-time position, starting with a contract evaluation period. We are a remote and distributed organization with teams centered mainly around Chicago and the greater Seattle area.
Importantly, we include our team members in much more than just their domains of work. We value human flourishing, education, and a multidisciplinary approach to problem solving. We strive to include everyone - as they are available/interested - in all aspects of business development, design, engineering, and marketing across our organization.
About Prota Holdings Our Holdings company is the top-level company over our Studios division (services), Labs division (new company incubation), our multiple VC funds (Prota Capital), and our various Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). At the Holdings level we oversee operations across our entire organization while empowering each division with an appropriately large amount of autonomy.
Responsibilities As our Storytelling and Operations Executive over Prota Holdings, you will drive the shaping and awareness of the Prota brand/culture, manage a budget, work across multiple divisions and projects, and help facilitate progress amongst a small team of experienced entrepreneurs.
Your responsibilities - tuned appropriately to a part-time (20-30hrs/week) position - will include:
Crafting and Communicating Narratives:
Develop compelling stories and narratives that effectively communicate the vision, mission, and value propositions of our organization.
Create and manage content across various platforms, including websites, blogs, social media, and press releases.
Operational Management:
Streamline and optimize internal processes to ensure efficient operations across our holdings company and portfolio companies.
Implement and manage tools and systems for project management, communication, and collaboration.
Ensure regular finance updates are occurring, including updating our financial model with historicals (and updates to future projections). You will be part of a team for this, so it won't be your sole responsibility.
Brand Management:
Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communications and marketing materials.
Develop and implement branding strategies for new and existing startups within the portfolio.
Marketing and Public Relations:
Develop and execute marketing and PR campaigns to increase visibility and engagement.
Manage relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure coverage and partnerships.
Content Strategy and Creation:
Oversee the creation of high-quality content, including articles, videos, podcasts, and infographics.
Collaborate with internal teams to produce engaging content that resonates with target audiences.
Investor Relations:
Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential investors.
Prepare investor presentations, reports, and updates to effectively communicate the performance and potential of the portfolio companies.
Strategic Planning:
Contribute to the strategic planning and direction of our organization.
Analyze market trends, industry insights, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions.
Stakeholder Management:
Act as a liaison between our holdings company, portfolio startups, investors, and other stakeholders.
Ensure clear and effective communication to align all parties on goals and expectations.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Track and analyze key performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of storytelling and operational strategies.
Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
Requirements and Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred - and/or significant startup executive/founder experience. 5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or operations, preferably within a VC, startup, or technology environment.
Storytelling and Communication:
Exceptional storytelling skills with a proven track record of creating compelling narratives and content.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively.
Marketing and Branding:
Experience in developing and executing marketing strategies and campaigns.
Knowledge of branding principles and practices, with a strong portfolio of successful brand management projects.
Operational Expertise:
Proven ability to streamline and optimize operations, with experience in project management, finance, and process improvement.
Proficiency in using project management tools and software (e.g., Asana, Trello, Slack – we tend to use Monday.com).
Strong finance background is highly desirable.
Investor Relations:
Experience in managing investor relations and communications.
Ability to create compelling investor presentations and reports.
Strategic and Analytical Thinking:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and market trends to inform strategic decisions.
Experience in strategic planning and execution, with a focus on achieving business goals and objectives.
Event Management:
Experience in planning and executing events, including product launches, investor meetings, and networking events.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing event logistics.
Leadership and Team Management:
Proven leadership experience with the ability to lead and mentor a diverse team.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Tech-Savvy:
Proficiency in digital marketing tools, content management systems, and social media platforms.
Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and the ability to interpret and act on data insights.
Adaptability and Flexibility:
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions and business needs.
Passion for Startups and Innovation:
Deep understanding of the startup ecosystem and a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Enthusiasm for working with early-stage companies and helping them grow and succeed.
Position Details To start, this will be a remote, part-time contract-based position with a 6 month minimum expected duration and a 20-30hrs per week commitment (as mutually agreed).
Life at Prota We are a fully remote organization, with team members around the world. While the plurality of the organization spends time throughout the year in/around Chicago and Seattle, there is no location requirement as long as you have a space to work and a good internet connection. We tend to meet in-person 2x per year, which may necessitate travel depending on your location.
