Research Interests Dr. Kolwicz has a long-standing interest in the role of lipid metabolism in the development of cardiac dysfunction. His past work, using genetic approaches, revealed a potential of enhanced cardiac lipid metabolism to protect the heart from acute and chronic stressors. Current and future work will investigate the metabolic adaptations that occur in both cardiac and skeletal muscle during acute and chronic exercise training.
