Baltimore, MD 21201 POSITION DUTIES
The State Aid Auditor Supervisor coordinates and supervises the activity and performance of the staff auditors assigned to perform financial and compliance audits of State Aid to Education program funds provided to local education agencies (LEAs).
Duties include: Designs and develops auditing programs for LEAs. Coordinates, develops and supervises auditing programs and reviews the staff auditors' working papers. Ensures that audit reports are issued timely to auditees. Coordinates preparation of the annual Status Report summarizing the results of audits performed. Develops and revises audit tools and procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by 3 credit hours in auditing.
Experience: Four years of experience performing financial and compliance audits of a State agency, grantee, business or other entity.
Notes:
1. Applicants who had met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974, will be considered to have met the educational requirement.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor or a Master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
3. Applicants may substitute one year of professional accounting experience for one year of auditing experience only.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Internal Review classifications or Auditing specialty codes in the Financial or Auditing fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications. Two years of government auditing experience. Knowledge of State Operations and Financial Management Systems. Experience supervising and coordinating the activities of an office unit. Experience managing multiple audits or projects simultaneously. LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION This recruitment is limited to current permanent and contractual State of Maryland employees. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Applicants must consent to a State Police Investigation (fingerprinting) as a routine procedure for all employees with this Agency.
