What will you do? Initiate, and implements Lead a small team of similar skilled engineers to accomplish goals and objectives Will work with outside engineering vendors and manufactures to complete encouraged results. Present high level system design ideas to a large team Always looking to the future for the next challenge that the team will need to address Assigning priority to multiple high priority activities Work with project management in the following areas High level schedules leading and mentoring team members Phase gate requirements Product requirements Lead and direct to develop a vision with management for the R&D team. Documentation of standard methodologies and processes Apply expertise to guide tactical and strategic decisions for the business Build a network within Thermo Fisher to efficiently accomplish tasks. This network will extend both directions to other specialists and to senior management, and across multiple sites. Identify systemic problems within the organization and build and implement answers to these problems. Implement your shown experience to drive system level design, testing and integration. Be willing to travel up to 25% How you will get there Education BS Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or other similarly appropriate field Advanced degree and/or +8 years of meaningful experience Self-motivated and willing to take clear ownership of work Proficiency with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, CSWA or CSWP certified Ability to connect with other specialists across departments, both verbally and written Ability and experience in planning, writing, executing, and documenting test plans and reports Ability to deliver work assignments quickly, autonomously and with outstanding quality Experience and proficiency at working in an interdisciplinary team and work environment Experience Plastics design experience and processing knowledge for the following: injection molding, extrusion, blow/cast films, and plastic welding Hardware, equipment, or machine build design experience Experience in medical device, biopharma, or cell/gene therapy industries Ability to cover multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of PDM workflows and how they impact day to day workflows. Able to engage and train new manufacturers. Must engage and facilitate relationships with new and existing vendors. Affinity with working in a high-tech environment. Strong written and oral communication skills. Diligent and accurate while maintaining a vision of the end result. Should have a previous network established with 3rd party manufacturers within the BioPharma industry. Work efficiently with remote teams and leverage current technology to accomplish the tasks at hand. Recognized as a technical or functional authority within the business unit.
