JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Medical Programs is seeking to hire a Staff Assistant to the Bureau Chief of Claims Processing. This position performs highly confidential, sensitive administrative tasks. The position also serves as the personnel liaison, maintaining work relationships with employees, management, Personnel and Labor Relations. The ideal candidate will be able to gather, analyze, interpret, and process information in a timely manner and convey information effectively through both written and verbal reporting. We are seeking a candidate who is self-motivated, task-oriented, organized, possesses strong interpersonal skills and eager to become an integral part of the Bureau of Claims Processing team.

Job Responsibilities Serves as staff assistant to the Chief of the Bureau of Claims Processing Directs and conducts stu dies and investigations regarding problems affecting operations of the Bureau's programs Coordinates audits regarding the Bureau Interprets Title XIX policies and procedures to representatives from other state agencies, and staff in Divisions/Bureaus within the Agency Represents the Bureau at meetings Interprets contractual guidelines, personnel rules, and Agency directives for staff Serves as Bureau contact person regarding AFSCME/ISEA issues Reviews proposed legislation related to the Bureau's operations and provides responses to Bureau Chief Coordinates with Bureau administration in the completion and submittal of the Budget Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration Requires two (2) years of professional experience in a public or private organization Preferred Qualifications Two (2) years of experience working with and maintaining confidential and sensitive information Two (2) years of professional experience preparing written materials related to personnel and Labor Relations issues Two (2) years of professional experience utilizing Microsoft software applications, specifically Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Word, and similar software Two (2) years of professional experience communicating detailed information both verbally and in written format Two (2) years of experience interpreting programs, rules, and regulations for a private or public organization or a state agency Conditions of Employment Requires the ability to pass a background check Requires the ability to travel Requires the ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop Work Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday
