Staff Accountant

Job summary
Kemper CPA Group LLP is seeking a Staff Accountant in Mattoon, Illinois.The Staff Accountant will rotate between general accounting, bookkeeping, tax, and audit assignments.The candidate should have a basic understanding of accounting concepts and a desire to pursue a career in public accounting.

Responsibilities
• Complete general accounting functions such as bank reconciliations, accrual computations, and account analysis.• Prepare simple tax returns and work on tax and/or audit engagements.• Execute routine journal entries and prepare financial statements.• Follow audit work paper techniques and spreadsheets.• Communicate effectively with clients and staff.• Demonstrate ownership of assigned work and work under time constraints.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferably with at least 150 credit hours) and eligible to sit for the CPA Exam.• Technology skills necessary to complete assignments.• Effective communication skills.• Analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.• Regular and reliable attendance.
