Restoring Families .® The Stablehand will be responsible for feeding and caring for equines in the program, ensuring the equines daily routines and needs are met, and assisting with facility and grounds maintenance. This position must be able to check for injury or illness and follow care instructions as provided by the Barn Manager.
Essential Duties: Provide equines with their daily dietary needs as directed by supervisor. Maintain equines regular routines/schedules. Alert equine staff of any concerns or changes in the equine's behavior. Manage the care of any medical concerns of the herd. Assist the barn manager, as needed, with horses' development plan (lunging, groundwork, etc.). Responsible for turning horses in and out. Clean and maintain turnouts, paddocks, and fields. Clean stalls, aisles, tack room, feed room, bathrooms, and maintain a clean professional environment. Blanket/Un-Blanket equines based on temperatures. High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum three (3) consecutive years' working with equines required. Previous stable hand experience preferred. Newport Healthcare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
