POSITION: Senior Resource GeologistReporting to the Resource Manager, Americas Mining Corporation's (AMC) is looking for a Senior Resource Geologist to perform resource calculations for its open pit copper operations in Mexico. The position is based in Sahuarita, AZ, with frequent travel to Mexico.RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform audits to assure quality of geologic databases. Guide projects in best practices (SME/CIM) for collection and storage of geologic data. Create reliable geologic models relevant to mining and processing needs. Work with production geologists at the operations to ensure geologic modeling is accurate to mapping. Perform model reconciliations to ore control and mill reports. Perform geostatistical evaluations of data in support of geologic domaining, capping, search neighborhoods and variography. A thorough understanding of variography and its applications are required. Complete model validation work according to industry standards. Complete technical summary documentation (S-K 1300) for each resource calculation. Make recommendations for additional definition or exploration drilling. Mentor and train production geologist in modeling techniques. Work as directed. REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and CAPABILITIES:Bachelor of Science degree in Geoscience. Fluency in both Spanish and English. Ten (10) years of industry experience, including five (5) years of resource modeling in porphyry copper deposits. Geostatistical coursework beyond bachelor's degree. Excellent knowledge of Leapfrog Geo and EDGE modeling software. Working knowledge of Hexagon, Surpac, Datamine or other Mine Planning / Modeling software. Management of computerized databases. Professional registration (CPG or PG preferred). Ability to interact with the company's geologic team to meet company goals and to build an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork.
