Role Summary:
As a Senior Accounting Associate specializing in Accounts Payable, you will collaborate closely with our Accounting Leadership and External Partners, focusing on project-specific financial initiatives. This role involves significant interaction with third-party suppliers, financial planning teams, and treasury departments, ensuring meticulous management of accounts payable operations. Your work will be crucial in maintaining efficient financial systems and supporting our expansion efforts.
Responsibilities:
Invoice Management: Oversee the enrollment of vendors into our AP systems and manage the processing of AP invoices for construction and operational phases of energy storage projects.
Financial Reporting: Lead the management of financial reporting processes including journal entries, general ledgers, and vendor payment terms.
Tax Handling: Direct the accounts payable sales and use tax processes and ensure compliance with relevant laws.
Vendor Relations: Handle 1099 processing, setup of W9 forms, and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure smooth operations.
Audit Support: Contribute to the preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements and provide support during financial audits.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years in accounts payable accounting, with a strong foundation in GAAP principles.
Proven experience managing AP systems related to Project Development, EPC, Construction, and Service Contracts.
Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks or NetSuite is essential.
CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including the use of macros, VBA scripts, data queries, and pivot tables.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
Prior experience in the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, battery storage) is highly desirable.
Knowledge of national energy market tariffs and incentives is beneficial but not required.
