SUMMARY:  The Senior Electrical FPGA Engineer is experienced at creating and maintaining Field Programmable Gate Array ("FPGA") designs for medical devices.  The individual in this role operates in a dynamic environment and partners effectively with cross functional teams to define the requirements of the designs, and the role also includes verification, troubleshooting and documenting designs. 
RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop digital electronics and FPGA designs based on project requirements for the Hyperfine portable point of care MRI scanner. Utilize VHDL and Verilog for FPGA programming to Integrate FPGA solutions into larger electronic systems. Work in all phases of development including advanced technology, concept, prototyping, design, verification, manufacturing, and manufacturing transfer. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and testing teams to ensure design meets specifications. Lead the verification and testing of FPGA designs, debug and resolve issues related to FPGA implementation. Ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulations.  KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL:  Use of schematic capture, and FPGA tools/techniques including synthesis and simulation tools, and VHDL/Verilog languages. Understanding of diagnostics and system embedded firmware. Ability to partner effectively with software groups, firmware developers and electrical engineers on leading-edge hardware platform development. Knowledge of circuit design and PCB layout and routing techniques for high-speed circuitry to ensure signal integrity, EMC compatibility and compliance with applicable standards. Excellent organizational, communication and team skills, as well as thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment. Proficiency in scripting, debugging, optimization tools, and unit testing. Ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods of activity.  EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field; or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 8 years of system design experience, including high-speed digital, microprocessor sub-system, and FPGA design. Proficient in VHDL or Verilog programming languages. Experience developing instrumentation systems (controls, sensors, automation, robotics, firmware, device communication, etc.). Experience developing under ISO quality management systems and translating system requirements to optimized, robust design.  PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position is an onsite position at the Hyperfine facility in Guilford, CT. Ability to use a variety of office equipment, test equipment and computers. Ability to stand for extended period of time, push, pull, kneel down, and lift up to 25lbs.  Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of any employment Visa at this time.
