Sr Electrical Engineer (Senior Level+) X3

Sr Electrical Engineer (Senior Level+) X3
Company:

Execusource

Details of the offer

Role: Sr. Electrical Engineer
Location: Falls Church, VA

In the role of Senior Electrical Engineer, you will engage in various capacities to apply and broaden your expertise in electronics and RF hardware and software. Your responsibilities will encompass analysis, design, implementation, optimization, and improvement of subsystems integral to our nanosatellite bus and its communications payload. Collaborating with fellow Electrical Engineers, you will design and assemble circuit boards, actively participating in the iterative design, integration, and testing phases of our nanosatellite bus and payload electronics hardware and software. Throughout the design process, proficiency with simulation and design tools, utilization of test equipment for brass board validation, and ease in laboratory environments will be essential. Given that our payloads operate across a spectrum from UHF to Ka Band, your work will involve employing spectrum analyzers and other RF equipment. Additionally, you will contribute to the design team's decision-making process regarding component and vendor selections.

If you enjoy the challenge of a broad role and have a track record of creative thinking to solve unconventional problems, then we look forward to meeting you!

Responsibilities:

The Senior Electrical Engineer will engage in multifaceted engineering tasks encompassing electrical, RF, and software engineering, primarily focusing on schematic and layout design.
Design spacecraft bus and payload hardware, involving components such as single-board computers, FPGAs, SoCs, processors, sensors, SDRs, LNAs, filters, amplifiers, etc., along with software design.
Develop circuit board schematics, select components, utilize development boards or breadboards for circuit design validation, create circuit board layouts, assemble and test boards to ensure functionality, and troubleshoot as needed.
Create firmware and test software tailored to your circuit boards.
Formulate production-level tests for the designed circuit boards.
Generate and maintain technical documentation for spacecraft bus and payload design and development.
Actively participate in design reviews at various stages.
Conduct and document failure analyses on problematic areas and test outcomes.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers in the integration of designed components into the spacecraft bus and payload, considering thermal requirements.
Provide support for spacecraft payload integration, testing, and delivery to launch or spacecraft bus partners/vendors.
Qualifications :

Possession of a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering.
Over 5 years of expertise in the design and development of circuit boards, encompassing discrete logic, signal conditioning, power circuits, and RF PCBs. Proficient in schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium, as well as circuit simulation using LTSpice or a similar tool. RF circuit experience will often involve distinct ground, power, and 50-ohm signal planes, with necessary shielding.
Hands-on experience with single-board computers, microcontrollers, FPGAs, GPUs, CPUs, SoCs, software-defined radios, RF components, and antennas.
Capability to interpret and comprehend datasheets for integrated circuits and other complex components.
Working knowledge of electronic test equipment, including logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
Experience using Linux-based systems.
Recent involvement in projects focusing on the development of space payload hardware and software, preferably in communications systems.
Highly desirable programming proficiency in one or more languages (e.g., C++, C, Python, MATLAB, etc.).
Desired hands-on experience in programming microcontrollers and integrating hardware and software systems.
Familiarity with FPGA programming (VHDL or Verilog) and Altera or Xilinx FPGAs is preferred.
Proficient in computer operations, including fluency in Linux, Windows, and Mac OSX; adept with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word).
Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
