What You'll Do

In this pivotal role, you'll oversee the management and optimization of our company's data infrastructure and architecture for the Clinical Data Hub. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing data pipelines, developing data models, integrating data, and ensuring data quality and governance. Leveraging your expertise in data engineering and big data technologies, you'll play a vital role in the effective storage, processing, and utilization of large-scale datasets. Collaborating with enterprise data platform teams, functional technology teams, and data scientists, you'll contribute to key clinical trial data initiatives, advancing our vision of a connected data ecosystem, including the Enterprise Data Fabric (EDF). This interconnected data ecosystem is essential for realizing critical business strategies across Research and Development, such as AI/ML and precision medicine.
Key Responsibilities
Collaboration and Planning: Partner with Product Owners, Product Management, Agile Teams, and Data Architects to plan and deliver prioritized Clinical Data Hub backlog items while optimizing the technical environment.
Data Management: Ensure that data requirements for applications, data scientists, and cross-functional use cases are met, maintaining high performance and reliability of the system.
Technical Leadership: Dedicate 50% of your effort to technical leadership, business solutioning, and platform roadmaps, and 50% to coding, code reviews, mentoring other engineers, and guiding vendor development teams.
Business Insights: Provide insights and actionable solutions for business clients at the director level or higher.
What We Expect of You

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree; or
Master's degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience; or
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience; or
Associate degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience; or
High school diploma / GED and 10 years of Information Systems experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in clinical trial design and analysis.
3+ years of experience in clinical Data Lake and Data Fabric space.
3+ years of experience with one or more programming languages: Python, R, SAS, Scala, or Java.
5+ years of experience architecting and building ETL pipelines; Hands-on experience with SQL.
2+ years of development experience with Databricks, including cluster setup, execution, and tuning.
Experience with data modeling, performance tuning, and experience on relational and graph databases.
Experience with Software engineering best-practices, including version control, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and automated testing.
Experience with AWS services: EC2, S3, EMR, RDS, Redshift/Spectrum, Lambda, Glue, Athena, API gateway, and design patterns (Containers, Serverless, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.).

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is provided. Actual salary will vary based on several factors, including relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
