The following duties are typical of the position, but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.
Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation and selection of building materials, building systems, and project design methods. Devises new approaches to problems encountered and develops substantial adaptations and modifications to standard architectural techniques and procedures. Independently performs assignments with instructions as to general results expected; Exercises sound judgment to resolve problems but may receive architectural guidance on unusual or complex facility designs; Solicits the approval of department/section manager and project architect for proposed design solutions. Performs specific phases of work on major projects or total architectural responsibility on projects of smaller or moderate scope. Oversees the drafting effort on a project and coordinate this effort with other disciplines on the same project and, at times, may be responsible for checking a portion of all the completed drawings. Has knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, OSHA compliance requirements, and a working knowledge of site planning, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering systems, methods, and general details. Uses knowledge of architectural drafting, detailing, building materials, and construction techniques to finalize project documents for bidding and construction purposes. Responsible for final content of architectural project specification. May participate in client contact and business development activities. Assists in integration of all disciplines of the project(s). Travel required. Bachelor or Masters Degree in Architecture with registration as a licensed architect required, with three (3) or more years of experience with SSOE as an Architect 5, or a licensed architect with twelve (12) or more years of related practical experience in architecture with former employer(s). Exceptions may be based upon equivalencies. Salary Range: $115k-$140k/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
