Salt Lake Community College Position Title: Specialist II, Faculty & Site Support, Taylorsville Redwood Campus (Part Time) Open Internally or Externally: External If faculty, tenure track status: Not Applicable Reports to (title): Nate Chrysler Department: Student Services South Region Requisition Number: P24173 Position Type: Replacement Job Category: Part-Time Staff - Variable FT/PT: Part-time Initial Work Location: Taylorsville Redwood Campus Starting Salary: $15.50-$16.24 Job Open Date: 02/13/2024 Job Close Date: Open Until Filled: Yes Priority Review Date: Job Summary: This position reports to Faculty & Site Support Manager and works under general supervision to ensure support for faculty at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus. The Specialist II supports faculty with daily operation of the faculty support center, including but not limited to: classroom opening and/or closing, telephone and email coverage, set-up of classroom technology, distributing supplies, posting cancellation notices and any other services as needed to support the services at the site.This position is an evening shift at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus with an average of 24-28 hours a week and from 90 – 125 hours a month (varying depending on academic scheduling). Hours for this position will be:Monday – Thursday: 3:00 PM – 8:30 PMFriday: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PMOne Saturday shift per month required (7:30 am -12:30pm) Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Faculty Support – Assist faculty members in the following areas, including but not limited to: Provide accurate and consistent information regarding classes, upcoming events, college resources, meetings, questions, concerns, etc. to faculty, students, staff, and other community members. Support in the security of classrooms and equipment, as required. Handle inquiries both over the phone/email for faculty and staff at the College. Assist with basic computer troubleshooting with appropriate referral as needed. Provide site support to faculty members. Know when to direct faculty to their departments (i.e., request key access & copy codes). Train and assist faculty in the use of copy machines, in-class electronic equipment and/ or other available site services. Assist instructors by distributing mail and classroom supplies and keeping the Faculty Support Center organized. Work with faculty to gain access to classrooms. Be trained in the available SLCC services to assist prospective, as well as current students, in navigating college experience and resources. Assist with basic online academic research with appropriate referrals as needed. General Site Support – Assist faculty members in the following areas, including but not limited to: Provide telephone coverage, including accurately disseminating general information about the college and taking messages for faculty and staff. Be aware of institutional policies and procedures, including approved safety and security procedures. Post signs as needed to direct constituents to campus classrooms and events. Site Safety & Security – Assist in the security of facility and equipment, including but not limited to: Opening and locking buildings and/or classrooms as required. Notify Facilities and/or Public Safety when any security concerns arise. Be aware of institutional policies and procedures, including approved safety and security procedures. Participate in campus emergency training and assist in campus emergencies. May provide support for campus events as needed. Ability to lift 10-20 lb. daily. Walk short distances daily. Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED. Basic computer literacy. Ability to operate a computer and general office equipment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience specific to Higher Education.One-year post-high school education.One year full-time (or equivalent) work experience.Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based information and scheduling systems.Knowledge and experience with Banner, EMS, and MySLCC programs.Bilingual, Spanish preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Required:Able to communicate (reading, writing, and speaking) and work effectively with a wide range of diverse individualsStrong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with staff, students, faculty, and the public to maintain good working relationships across the College.Capable of explaining complex issues in a concise manner to students, staff, and faculty.Able to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.Able to use professional phone etiquette.Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple activities to meet the department's needs.Able to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.Able to use Microsoft Office Suite.Able to perform general clerical skills and organize assignments based on priority.Able to multi-task while under strict deadlines.Able to adapt and be flexible to changing issues or circumstances.Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.Preferred:General knowledge of higher education policies, practices, and procedures.Ability to take initiative in identifying and promoting development opportunities.
