Special Education Teacher Responsibilities: Perform the duties of a classroom Instructor for the Deaf and the Blind, Blind/Visually Impaired (B/VI) division in a kindergarten classroom. Focused specifically on students' vision services and relevant instruction. Act as case manager for student IEP needs. Provide appropriate programming for blind/visually impaired students with multiple needs Prepare and write lesson plans for each student Generate information/reports on children as appropriate Follow appropriate curriculums, as provided Assist parents in embedding activities within the child's everyday routines Take a collaborative role at staffing meetings, IEP meetings, student transitions, and aid in IEP success through appropriate assessments, including assessment of vision functioning, goal development, and follow-through of the IEP Attend training sessions and workshops as assigned by program administrators Special Education Teacher Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's degree preferred) State of Utah Teaching Licensure with Visually impaired endorsement (or be willing to complete within 3 years of hire) Experience teaching in a classroom setting Experience managing IEPs and following effective case management Be located near Ogden, Utah or be willing to relocate to the area Special Education Teacher Compensation and Benefits: Competitive salary commensurate with education and experience Comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, life, long-term disability) PTO and Sick Leave Retirement plan Monthly professional development and focus on continuing education opportunities Highly supportive work environment with a focus on team, community, and recognizing the hard work of their educators Ample access to necessary resources to be effective in your role (curriculums, aides, mentorship, technology, etc)
