Special Education Teacher for the Blind Responsibilities: Perform the duties of a classroom instructor for the deaf and the blind, blind/low Vision(B/LV) division. Focused specifically on students' vision services and relevant instruction. This role works in partnership with a cooperating high school teacher who focuses on students academic content and instruction. Act as case manager for student IEP needs. Prepare and write lesson plans for each student Generate information/reports on children as appropriate Assist parents in embedding activities within the child's everyday routines with regular home visits and/or Parent Workshops Take a collaborative role at staffing meetings, IEP meetings, student transitions, and aid in IEP success through appropriate assessments, including assessment of vision functioning, goal development, and follow-through of the IEP Attend training sessions and workshops as assigned by program administrators Coordinate with B/VI supervisor and program director Special Education Teacher for the Blind Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's degree preferred) State of Utah Teaching Licensure with Visually impaired endorsement (or be willing to complete within 3 years of hire) Experience teaching in a classroom setting Experience managing IEPs and following effective case management Be located near Ogden, Utah or be willing to relocate to the area Special Education Teacher for the Blind Compensation and Benefits: Competitive salary commensurate with education and experience Comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, life, long-term disability) PTO and Sick Leave Retirement plan Monthly professional development and focus on continuing education opportunities Highly supportive work environment with a focus on team, community, and recognizing the hard work of their educators Ample access to necessary resources to be effective in your role (curriculums, aides, mentorship, technology, etc)
