Job Summary : To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning by fostering the development and growth of professional learning communities. In collaboration with Student Service Coordinators, building administrators, teachers and other stakeholders, the SEBC supports the goal of building staff capacity to meet system-wide and local school initiatives to ensure equitable student achievement gains.



Responsibilities and tasks include : Statement of duty/responsibility: Provide instructional leadership support to special education staff.



Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility: Complete informal observations, provides feedback and facilitates reflection around classroom routines, procedures, strategies, learning tasks, assessment, and materials. Engage in reflection with the building's Instructional Leadership Team on instructional & coaching practices, sharing best practices, problem-solving issues and planning the building's professional learning opportunities. Collaborate with Student Services Coordinators and Staff Development Assessment Specialists to plan and present professional development opportunities and provide resources to improve teacher performance and student achievement. Coach teachers on the development of unit and lesson plans to include instructional activities that facilitate the development of students' ability to think critically. Model equitable & inclusive instructional strategies and lesson planning on an ongoing basis. Collaborate in PLTs to ensure learning goals and instructional goals are based on various data sources. Statement of duty/responsibility: Support the effective completion of due process for each student receiving special education services. Serve as Administrative Designee at IEP meetings, as needed. Take detailed notes at IEP meetings to inform completion of PWN. Ensure that all components of IEP programming are addressed during annual meetings. Facilitate or support Conciliation Conferences and Manifestation Determination Meetings to ensure that all components are addressed in partnership with Student Services Coordinator. Review due process paperwork to ensure MDE compliance. Support the Continuous Improvement Monitoring Process. Provide professional development around due process when patterns of non-compliance are determined through IEP review. Provide due process support for new staff. In collaboration with site teams create caseloads and services schedules. Ensure the self-contained document is updated in a timely manner with all required information and inform Student Services Coordinator. Other duties as assigned. Statement of duty/responsibility: Provide strategic leadership support and collaboration to special education teams. Communicate and support a shared vision of special education services for the elementary level. Assist with the development of a collaborative culture by leading weekly child study meetings. Attend SEBC meetings and ensure that information is disseminated to building level staff in a timely manner. Support administration in the hiring of special education staff. Provide a special education voice to building administration through the development of the site improvement plans and by attending building team leader meetings as requested. Support District level initiatives related to Student Services, e.g., Unified Schools, and Curriculum implementation (Wilson Reading, Equals Math, & SOAR, etc.). Facilitate the transition of students between levels. Statement of duty/responsibility: Supports student engagement and ensures student receives education in their Least Restrictive Environment. Support the implementation of the process for supporting Least Restrictive Environment. Work with building leadership and behavior teams to support with the development and implementation of behavior support plans. Including but not limited to data collection, intervention planning, training, and modeling. Statement of duty/responsibility: Monitors student progress and applies supports and interventions. Ensure special education teachers monitor student progress and make instructional decisions based on progress. Facilitate the review of site data for students receiving services at CST meetings at least once a trimester and develop instructional plans based on achievement data. Minimum Qualifications include : Valid Minnesota special education license in appropriate field or valid license in a related service area. Master's Degree in Special Education preferred.
