Position Summary
Construction Technicians perform tasks involving physical labor on projects/job sites. May operate a variety of hand and power tools. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, clean up rubble and debris and remove waste materials. May assist other technicians.
Primary
Responsibilities/Tasks:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Performing a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor on projects/job sites; performing manual work in preparing surfaces for paving
Shoveling dirt, asphalt, concrete, and/or using with trenching machine
Assisting in patching asphalt with cold patch; excavating and filling trenches and ditches
Maintaining a clean job site: picking up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards
Unclogging clogged conduits, repairing damaged conduits.
Handling and storing materials
Loading and unloading trucks and hauling and hoisting materials
Running advance aerial drop (Coax) when necessary
Pulling coax/cat5 lines through occupied conduits
Running coax/cat5 lines through confined spaces (crawl spaces/attics/drop ceilings)
Terminating Coax/cat5 lines
Utilizing proper traffic control when required to cross major streets
Ensuring that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed; bringing problems to the attention of the Operations Manager, Safety Director, or HR
All other duties as assigned
Candidate Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid and appropriate state driver's license (DMV records pulled)
Must be willing to work weekends
GED or High School Diploma required
Minimum 1 year experience required
Personal truck, van or SUV is required for work capable of safely carrying a 28 ft extension ladder, necessary tools, and equipment.
MUST maintain constant vehicle insurance and registration
Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions
Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in construction work
Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
Ability to communicate orally and in writing
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
Ability to work well alone and in teams
MUST possess good time management skills
Must not be afraid of heights
Accurately complete work orders, forms and reports as required
Maintain the flexibility to vary workload to meet constantly changing demands
Possess a positive and professional attitude and maintain a presentable appearance
Ability to use communication devices as needed to complete work orders
Basic computer skills are required

Pay:
$33,000 - $80,000/yr plus mileage reimbursement
Upon completion of the initial PAID TRAINING CLASS, each graduate will receive all of the necessary tools needed to perform the job.
